How old do you have to be to rent an exotic? On most of our fleet the minimum age is 25, and a handful of flagship exotics are set at 30. You need a valid full driver’s licence (Class 5 in BC, or a valid licence from your home country if you are visiting), a major credit card for the deposit, and to pass a quick screening. There is no special licence required to drive a supercar.
What is the real hold on the car? This is the number people most want to know, and the honest answer is that it varies by company and vehicle. Our standard security deposit is $3,000–$12,000, with a larger hold on the highest-value exotics. It is a refundable authorization on your credit card, not a charge, and it is released after you return the car in the condition it left in.
Does your own insurance cover a rented exotic in BC? Often not fully. British Columbia uses ICBC for base coverage, and many personal policies and credit-card benefits specifically exclude high-value vehicles. The worst time to discover a gap is after an incident, so do not assume you are covered. We confirm exactly what applies to your booking and offer a Loss Damage Waiver that caps your responsibility at the deductible ($3,000–$12,000).
What about hidden fees? The fees that surprise people elsewhere are mileage overage, fuel, cleaning, delivery, and young-driver surcharges. We quote all of these up front. Turo versus a real rental company? Peer-to-peer platforms can look cheaper, but the experience varies a lot on vehicle condition, insurance, and support. A dedicated company gives you consistent standards, concierge delivery to your door or the airport, proper coverage options, and a real team to call if something goes wrong. For a high-value car, most people decide the certainty is worth it.
Can you actually drive it hard? You can absolutely enjoy the performance on public roads, within the law. What is never allowed on any rental is track use, racing, burnouts, or stunt driving. Those void your damage protection and are treated seriously, so keep the spirited driving legal and save the limit for a proper track day in your own car.
So is it worth it? For a milestone, a proposal, a photoshoot, or simply to experience a car before you buy one, most people find it very worth it. You get the drive without the depreciation, storage, and maintenance. If you want that feeling more than once in a while, a long-term rental or Club membership usually delivers better value than a single day.
